Action 6 Questions

Action 6 Questions

  • Delegates will vote on Actions 5 and 6 separately, but in the implementation phase, Montrose could consider where action administration could be effectively combined.

  • Maybe! This is an example of an idea for action that you can submit as a delegate (through Tuesday, October 31) - email montrose@unifyamerica.org with your ideas.

  • The purpose of this Deliberation is to capture the ideas the Delegates want to see Montrose pursue. There are several possible ways to fund any public initiative.

Please see FAQ question on the process page: “If two-thirds of the Assembly agree on a Plan of Action, who would fund the solution and what are the limitations of that funding?” for further explanation.

  • This action works to create opportunities for parents, family, friends, and neighbors who provide care, either for their own children, relatives, or friends. It could be teamed with any other action that the Assembly votes into the Plan of Action. That’s part of the deliberation process: Actions address different needs and stakeholders in Montrose, and so the Delegates can decide which combination of Actions will best help Montrose and achieve the shared goal.

  • The goal of the deliberation is to have the Assembly decide what actions will achieve the shared goal: Every parent and guardian in Montrose shall have access to dependable, safe, affordable, and enriching childcare options so they can work, attend school, or otherwise contribute to our community.

So this action may contribute more to safe, affordable, and enriching childcare options. Marketing the network may also attract parents, family, friends, and neighbors who may be watching one child to take training, become registered with the network, and be available to parents who are looking for FFN care. Some parents may prefer to have their child in a FFN setting, and so while it may not create many spots, this might help the parents looking for childcare in a smaller setting, during non-standard times, and/or closer to their homes.

  • We’d love to have Delegates suggest other names, which could be voted on in the improvement stage! Please email your ideas to montrose@unifyamerica.org.

  • As currently written, this action would coordinate the efforts of local organizations that support FFN caregivers, help those organizations extend their offerings, and market to the community to encourage more FFN providers to get training, and more residents to become providers themselves. What other resources would you suggest to help FFN as part of this action? Email them to Unify Montrose as a suggested improvement.

  • The network could be a new organization, or a new branch of an existing organization. That would need to be worked out in implementation.

  • There are a number of organizations that do provide programs, but they are not coordinated and advertised together.

Additionally, while there are websites that provide lists of Family, Friends, and Neighbor providers, there is not a single source for Montrose–parents might have to check multiple sources to find FFN providers. The idea of this action would be to advertise and consolidate listings for parents.

  • The idea for this Action is to coordinate and publicize the current opportunities available to FFN, as well as to parents who might be interested. Additionally, there would be new trainings; for example, the SafeSitter program for FFN would be a new offering, since right now there is only an offering that is aimed at teen babysitters.

When collecting ideas for actions, the idea of supporting Family, Friends, and Neighbors came up. Some people may already know about the training, but organizations on the ground suggested that awareness and promotion of opportunities is currently a big hurdle.
